Back! and an All My Children Event

Forgive me readers, for I have sinned. It has been 18 days since my last blog.

I'm sorry! I will now attempt to win you over with cute pictures of animals.

Hi y'all!

But I've thought about it often. For a good solid week - ten days, I just didn't want to share. I'm not sure where my head was, but it was not in writing or the internet or picture taking or anything! But for the last few days I've been thinking about it and decided to continue. Sooooo

Ohhh look. Nothing's changed.
Yes my bfast is smiling at me! I am 5.

I had a bagelwich with peanut butter, naner and cinnamon. I'm sorry, but this is a satisfying meal that actually keeps me full until lunch! I need to photograph lunch and dinner more. It's really much more entertaining.

Last night I went with my mom to A Tribute To Pinevalley. Any All My Children fans out there??

It was a pretty cool event. Six actors from the show were on stage. They answered questions from the audience, had the audience ask them trivia questions and try to stump them in order to win prizes, and told some great behind the scenes stories.

I really didn't know what to expect when we went to this show but had a really great time. I grew up with All My Children, One Life To Live, & General Hospital on in the background. Sometimes I would get caught up in a story line and watch religiously and others I would have a vague idea of stuff, but I always knew basically what was going on with the show. In the last 3 years I've been watching One Life To Live every day. Thank god for DVRs and weekends!! :) At the end of the show last night, I heard there will be a OLTL version of this show happening in January! Yay! Cannot wait! :)

What's going on this weekend?  I have a wedding to attend tomorrow (its Halloween themed!!.....all I'll say is I am not a fan of Halloween...but I am a fan of weddings!)
Sunday I'm going to a pumpkin blaze!!
I took of Monday because I have a few days to use before the end of the year and who doesn't love a three day weekend?

Three whole days!! Surely I'll blog over the weekend. Have a great one!

The Return of Miss Janice

Greetings! Why is it that whenever I blog lately, I'm watching trash television? I am on my couch watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians: Kim's Fairytale Wedding. That is a mouthful. I don't care, I'm down with the Kardashians... particularly Khloe & Kourtney :)

I'm about half way through the TWO HOUR ordeal event and so far, my favorite part is when Kris gets a facelift. She is in the waiting room with her 4 kids and Kris' best friends come to cheer her on. I was particularly struck by her friend, Lisa!

I always wondered what happened to Miss Janice!

Anymuppet, I woke up at a decent hour on Sunday and broke out my
Body by Bethenny DVD that Pete bought me for my birthday! I've done this once before when it was On Demand on cable and really enjoyed it. It promptly disappeared from cable the next day.

I always love how I feel after yoga. I feel empowered, strong and flexible (I am generally SOO unflexible!!) I'm always surprised at what I am capable of achieving and just love the overall feeling when I am done. Plus Bethenny cracks me up.

Later in the day, Pete & I went to BJ's Wholesale Club to pick up 40lbs of cat liter, enough Brita water filters for the year, and this baby:

Yayay! I love Chobani. Although my two favorites are pineapple and black cherry. I wish they made big packs with those flavors!

We ended the night relaxing on the couch with Peach :)

Later, when Peach was sick of Daddy petting her, she went to go have a 3 legged nap.

LOL She cracks me up!

Weekly Roundup

Good morning!! I know, I know... I haven't blogged in over a week. You ever have those weeks that are just sorta blah? My mind frame wasn't quite right this week and I could simply think of nothing to write.  My lower back has been hurting a lot (I threw my back out once a few years ago... I'm scared it's going to happen again!!), I've had a vague headache that I think is part of a cold along with some stuffiness, and I'm super duper broke due to an unexpected visit to the vet for Peach.

But I'm worth it Mommy!

You are lil Peach... you are! xo

Ok.. that's all out there. Pity party over!!

Today is Saturday and a beautiful autumn day! I have a large to do list that involves cleaning up my apartment, getting things in order and making phone calls to catch up with people.

BUT FIRST, I seem to have gotten myself into a little ritual. I've been waking up mid Saturday mornings, making myself some sort of hearty, weekend breakfast and watching Jersey Shore.
WAAAAAAHH!

Don't judge. These people are all ridiculous. Snooki & Jionni need to break up. Situation needs to crawl into a cave and never go out into public again. And Vinny needs to apparently move to Sicily and eat lots of pasta for the rest of his days.

How was your week? I will briefly recap here:

Last last Friday: Brandon & I went to Patrick's place in Hoboken for some drinks! We started the evening with Kir Royales which is vodka, creme de cassis and champagne. They were so good!

We ended the evening with playing a trivia game, wine, and heading into the city. It was a fun night!

Sunday: Pete & I went up to my sister's house in Westchester for some sister times! We went apple picking in the morning with her family and some friends, and then came back to the house for a bbq. It was such a beautiful, relaxing, country Sunday!

Pete giving uncly apply advice

Do we look ready for kids?? ;)
Monday: Monday I got a much needed hair cut! What do you think?

No, no.. naturally, I did not take a picture of my fun hair, but basically, I took about 4 inches off the ends, and put some layers into the entire thing. This was much needed!

Tuesday: Tuesday after work I went with Patrick to Mike's place uptown. Since Mike's schedule at work has changed, I never get to see him!! :( So I suggested we have some mid-week times. A box of wine & some wigs happened ... there are about 8 more pictures like the one above LOL. They were crackin' me up!!

Wednesday: Pete and I went to see Drive with Ryan Gosling. I thought this movie was kinda shitty... Pete liked it. Boop.

Thursday: I took Miss Peach to the vet. The poor girl HATES being in a car, and in the small confinement of her carrier (she is so big that we use a dog carrier). She meowed her stressful meow the entire 20 minute drive to the vet. It's so distracting and hard to listen to! But she got a pretty good report card from the vet. My goal is to help her lose 2lbs.

Friday: Yesterday Pete and I went to my parents house for dinner. It was a nice relaxing dinner and a far cry from my Friday nights when I was in my early 20s!! *Sigh*

Saturday/Today: Today for breakfast, I tried religious Ezekiel bread. It is made up of a bunch of different grains that create a healthy protein. .. I think that's what I read on the side of the bag.

It was pretty good! Quite filling. I enjoyed it along side an iced pumpkin coffee.

Ok friends! I can cross "blog" off my to do list! Now I get to go clean a bathroom. Jealous?

Before I go, let me make some goals for the week:
  1. Blog 3x
  2. Yoga 2x
  3. Cardio 2x
  4. Spend 20 minutes a day doing something for my life - ie keep after my apt, work on resume, meditate, write. etc etc
Have a great Saturday!

Babble babble

Hey y'all! Are you ready for the weekend? I feel like this week flew by. I found it sort of unremarkable, and didn't have much to blog about. Did you miss me? ;)

I spent my week doing yoga twice and eating pretty well. I caught up with an old friend on Tuesday and caught up with the season finale of Drop Dead Diva  yesterday. (Seriously, this is an awesome show!! I'm so exicted it'll be back for a fourth season!)

Have you tried Extra's flavored gum?

I've tried Mint Chocolate Chip which is ok and Strawberry Short Cake which is awesome!! (Unless you leave it in your hot car for a few days during the high temperatures of August. Then, it is not so good.)

Orange creamsicle is soooo goood. It makes me want an Orange Julius and a Good Humor creamsicle at the same time. AT THE SAME TIME.

In other news, at some point last week I got trapped in the Oprah website. Man, that sight is like crack.  I started with The Top 20 Things Oprah Knows for Sure ... and at the end of the article, or on the side, or in a pop up, is always another article that I  just KNOW will change my life and I simply must read it. Here are my faves:
  1. What Oprah Knows For Sure - surprisingly does NOT mention anything about The Color Purple
  2. How To Spark A Breakthrough - like the Kool Aid guy.  Oh Yeaaa!
  3. Where my passion at? - ok, that's not the title.. thats my ghetto title.
  4. Then I Got Lost In The Book Section - even though I don't care what books made a difference to Maria Bello... and if I have to see her stupid new show's commercial at the movies one more time.....stop drinking milk in a murder scene!
  5. How To Stop Babbling on a Blog - jk.
Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend!

Newsies!

Last week I used my Living Social deal to Whole Foods and snagged a bunch of stuff! My voucher was get $20 for $10, plus I had $4 in coupons! I spent $19.92 :D Its the little things people, the little things.

I scored some delicious granola, Oikos yogurt with caramel (OMG GOOD), Van's waffles and almond butter packets.
banana is the best!!

I'm really glad I decided to try the almond butter packets before committing to an entire jar. I learned that I don't really like almond butter! It's too grainy for me.  And almondy. .. I know.

Saturday morning I tried the Van's 97% fat free waffles and were surprised how good they were! I topped them with a 'naner, cinnamon, blueberries and syrup.

NEWSIES

Saturday night, Emily and I saw Newsies at the Papermill Playhouse in New Jersey. We were surprised how cute the town & theater was!
Probably a sewage system...but a pretty one!

We had excellent seats and as soon as the overture started, the 10 year old in me squealed with delight!!  I realize not everyone has seen this 90s Disney movie, but it really was a cult classic. It had great songs and dancing.

Well, let me tell you. The stage version is amazing!! The story is better and moves along well. All your favorite songs from the movie are part of the show including, 'Seize the Day', 'Carrying the Banner', & 'Santa Fe'.

There were a ton of great dance numbers and Jeremy Jordan who plays the lead Jack Kelly was charismatic and had a powerful voice. I'm hoping this show winds up on Broadway next  year. I think it's ready to go and translates well from the movie. If you're in the tri state area, I would recommend you see this before it closes October 15th!

Sunday Pete & I made a routine trip to Target. Do you like my outfit? ;)

Happy Monday everyone!

This & That

In keeping up with the autumn theme, I've proudly displayed my new purply mums on the kitchen table along with some fresh from the tree apples... and store bought 'naners. MmM.

Aren't they pretty!? I heart them.

This morning's breakfast was awesome! I finally remembered to place the ingredients all pretty for you too look at :)

In the mix:
  • 1 black berry Chobani
  • blueberries
  • strawberries
  • 2 handfuls of granola
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

In other news, today is the last day All My Children is on the air. I haven't watched it in years, but have watched on and off in college and my entire life, really. Some of my earliest memories are of sitting in the living room while my mom was doing her ironing with All My Children on in the background. Actually, that, One Life to Live & General Hospital were all on in the background.

My personal favorite is One Life To Live which I watched a bit of growing up but have now been watching consistently for a solid three years. I love the show! I am saddened that it will be going off the air in January, and can relate to all those All My Children fans and what they are feeling today. Thank you for 40 great years of television and may your cast & crew be able to find jobs quickly.

*End rant* :)
